C. Maxine Brown

C. MAXINE BROWN, age 88 of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at her home.

Maxine was born March 2, 1928 in Norton County, Kansas (1/2 mile from the Nebraska state line) to John L. and Leona C. (Palmer) Railsback. Maxine grew up in Lebanon, Nebraska where she lived with an aunt and uncle, Sophia and Harry Hudsonpillar. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945.

On January 22, 1946, Maxine married Glen Brown at Norton, Kansas. The couple made their home in Ogallala, and their union was blessed with 6 children. Both Maxine and Glen worked at Goodall's and TRW before retiring in 1989. In retirement, Maxine and Glen enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas for several years. They also enjoyed making the occasional visit to the casinos.

Maxine enjoyed cooking, baking and word searches. She also liked to knit, crochet and play dominoes. Maxine's life was very much about family, and she loved spending time with them. She was also an avid Husker and Bronco football fan. Maxine had a wonderful sense of humor that she passed along to her family.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; son, Rick; infant daughter, Laurie Ann; daughter-in-law, Vyla Brown; grandson, Justin Brown; brothers, Sonny, Merl, Donald, Franklin, Verlyn and Harry; sisters, Ila McIntosh, Dorothy Coler.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (John) Foust of Ogallala; sons, Mark (Millie) Brown, Richard (Susan) Brown and David (Cheryl) Brown all of Ogallala; daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown, of Cape Girardeau, MO; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mavis Ohlson of Cambridge, Imogene Davison of North Platte, Katherine (Curt) Brunner of Tucson, AZ, Loren (Pauline) Railsback of Peoria, AZ; sister-in-law, Roxie Railsback of Torrance, CA; her beloved bichon, CeeLee; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in her memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live for those unable to attend.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the New Hope Church in Ogallala with Pastor Eric Wait officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
