Calvin R. Clark

March 20, 1928 — December 29, 2015

Calvin Clark, 87 of Ogallala, passed away December 29, 2015 at his home south of Lake McConaughy.

Calvin was born March 20, 1928 at Jefferson County, Colorado to Joseph V. and Bertha (Frazier) Clark. He attended school at Golden and left school at age 16 to join the Merchant Marine.

Following his discharge, Calvin worked as a carpenter in the Denver area. On February 14, 1947, Calvin married Phyllis Hansen. Their union was blessed with 3 children, Chuck, Barbara and Mark. Calvin was passionate about building homes, and as a result, his family resided in more than 12 different homes, as he was always in the process of building and selling. In the early 1960's Calvin decided to take a job at Coors Brewing Company, in the warehouse. Calvin would eventually come to be a supervisor of inventory at the warehouse. He would eventually retire from Coors, promptly taking up his final building project, their retirement home on the Twin Lakes. In 2009 Phyllis passed away, and Calvin decided to relocate to a home with a view of Lake McConaughy.

Calvin was a very hard worker, and enjoyed working with his hands. He took pride in his work ethic, and proudly passed those values onto his children. Calvin was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis and 7 siblings.

Survivors include his sons, Chuck (Margaret) Clark of Arvada, CO, daughter, Barbara (Lou) Bonner of Ogallala, son, Mark (Alice) Clark of Arvada, CO; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Ogallala Music Boosters in Calvin's memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

Private family services are planned for a later date.

Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
