Charles Edward Tillman

Charles Edward “Chuck” Tillman, age 77 of Ogallala, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2011 at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Born on August 8, 1934 in North Platte, Nebraska the son of Jack and Fern (Newhouser) Tillman, Chuck graduated from North Platte High School in 1952. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, and was stationed in California.
Chuck attended Peru State Teacher’s College in Peru, Nebraska, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in education and later obtained his Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. Chuck taught and coached sports at Esbon, KS and at Paxton and Grant in Nebraska.
Chuck also worked for Ogallala Ready Mix in Ogallala for many years. He was Past Commodore of the Yacht Club and a longtime member of the Ogallala Elks Lodge and the Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Chris and a sister in law, Janet Tillman. He is survived by his loving and faithful companion, Evelyn Lanouette of Ogallala; a daughter and son in law, Angie and Lonny Martin of Estes Park, Co; a son and daughter in law, Mark and Pam Tillman of North Platte, NE; grandchildren, Mandy Martin, Taylor and Trevor Tillman; brother and sister in law, Jack and Colleen Tillman of Wahoo, NE, brother, Roger Tillman of North Platte, NE; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell on Friday, September 9, 2011. Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
