Among her many other gifts, Doris wrote poetry. At her mother’s passing she wrote these words:

God prepared a place for her,
and called her to His throne.
He gave to us the memories,
the love for us was shown.
He called her to His side,
her busy hands were stilled.
Her wisdom no longer guides us,
her life so graciously is filled.
Her cheerful voice when we meet,
we will no longer hear,
But the memories of our precious Mother,
will be forever near.
