FOSTER F. MEISCH, 90 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE.

Foster was born February 23, 1926 at Goodrich, ND, the only son of John and Natalie (Schneider) Meisch. At the age of nine, he moved with his family to Killdeer, ND. He attended grade school and two years of high school there. In the spring of 1942, the family moved to a farmstead 3 miles north of Dunn Center, ND. He finished high school there and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. He was with a 105 mm cannon brigade and was shipped to the South Pacific. There he was transferred to the Airforce where he served with the 11th Airborn glider unit until his honorable discharge in 1946.

In March of 1948, he married Hildegard Unterseher. They resided in Dunn Center where Foster was employed as a parts man in the local garage. They had three children, Diane, Conrad, & Kenneth. In 1951 the couple purchased and ran a lunch counter and recreation center for three years. He then went to work for the Killdeer Herald newspaper after selling the recreation business. In 1961 he moved to New Rockford, ND with his employer where he remained until his retirement in 1982. In the fall of 1961, a car accident claimed the life of his then 2 1/2 year old son, Kenneth. His wife died in the fall of 1982. In December of 1982 he married Marie Grindheim, and after five years together in New Rockford, they moved to Apache Junction, Arizona. There he picked up the locksmith trade which he enjoyed until the fall of 2003, when his wife's health brought them back to New Rockford. She died in a nursing home there in 2006. He then moved to Ogallala, NE to be with his daughter, Diane.

During his life he served in various organizations. He served as Township assessor in Dunn County, ND, president of Dunn County P.T.A. for 2 years, Boy Scout leader for three years, part time editor of the Killdeer Herald paper, secretary/treasurer of the New Rockford Golf Club for 9 years, secretary/treasurer of the New Rockford Kiwanis Club for 8 years, president of the North Dakota/Manitoba Kiwanis Peace Gardens Club for three years, part time editor of the New Rockford Transcript newspaper, and State President of the North Dakota Good Sam camping club for five years.

Foster was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth; first wife, Hildegard; and second wife, Marie.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane Wipperling of Ogallala and son, Conrad (Debbie) Meisch of West Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, Davin, Rhonda, and Laurie; 6 great grandchildren; 1 foster great granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the ALS Association, American Diabetes Association, or to the donor's choice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala, with Reverends Chuck Rager and JA Welsh officiating. A time of fellowship will follow at the church. Interment of cremains will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at New Rockford, ND beside his first wife and son.
