Jerry Gasho

June 21, 1944 — January 2, 2018

Jerry Gasho, 73 of Brule, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Perkins County Hospital in Grant.

Jerry was born June 21, 1944 in Beach, North Dakota to Chester and Rose (Turnvald) Gasho. He attended country school in Golden Valley County before attending high school in Beach. After his schooling, Jerry farmed and ranched with his brothers for several years. In 1978, Jerry married Linda (Moore) Van Horn at Skaar Church in Sidney, MT, and with that union, his life took on new meaning as he gained a 7 year old son, Jake. The family moved to Stevensville, MT where Jerry worked for a couple of different people. Jerry then attended small engine trade school in Missoula, MT. Jerry and Linda's next adventure, which Jerry fondly referred to as his "retirement job", was traveling the western United States installing telephone equipment. They did that for about 10 years before landing in Gillette, WY in the early 2000s. There, Jerry worked in construction. In 2010 they moved to their current residence near Brule to be closer to family. Jerry continued working for a local rancher until his health would no longer allow.

Jerry was a member of the Moose Lodge, and was involved as a leader in 4-H when Jake was growing up.

Jerry enjoyed roping and rodeo in his younger years. He loved breaking teams of horses, and in recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed woodworking.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Gasho of Brule; son, Jake (Patsy) Van Horn of Ogallala; brothers, Allen (Betty) Gasho and Harlan (Cheryl) Gasho, both of Trotters, ND; sister, Muriel (Don) Sokoloski of Wibaux, MT, along with numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Condolences can be shared online at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

A memorial service with interment of cremains will be held at a later date.

Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
