Lanny Carter, age 63 of Ogallala, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

Lanny was born May 16, 1952 in Julesburg, CO to Robert "Bob" W. and Donna J. (Sutton) Carter. Lanny grew up on a farm outside of Julesburg, CO. He graduated from Julesburg High School with the class of 1970. Lanny went on to attend Northeastern Junior College at Sterling, CO before graduating from Colorado State University. On June 2, 1974, the day after his graduation, Lanny married the love of his life, Carol Bruns in Chappell, NE.

Lanny's career started with Agricultural Banking in Colby, Kansas followed by 8 years at the Bruns family farm. He then returned to his love for banking at Adams Bank and Trust. He started in Sutherland successfully advancing to Branch President then moving to Ogallala where he finished his career as Risk Management Officer and Director.

Lanny was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Despite a yearlong battle with cancer, His loyalty never wavered, as he continued to work and make time for his family despite the rigors of chemo and radiation treatments.

Lanny lived life with passion and engagement. He gave maximum effort in all of his endeavors, often adhering to the rule, "if you aren't going to do it right, don't do it at all." His commitment to work was perhaps only surpassed by the love for his family. "Coach Carter" was a title he wore proudly as he led not only his children but many others to numerous championships.
