Margaret Lezotte

July 14, 1922 — August 10, 2017

MARGARET LEZOTTE, 95 of Ogallala, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.

Margaret was born July 14, 1922 at Albion, Nebraska to John L. and Ella B. (Fritzen) Kenfield. In the early 1930's, the Kenfields moved to a farm south of Brule. Margaret graduated from Brule High School with the class of 1940.

On December 24, 1941, Margaret married Hubert LeZotte, and subsequently relocated to the west coast to work in the wartime production factories of WWII. The couple returned to Ogallala a year later, and their union was blessed with 2 children, Bob and Sandy. The couple went on to own and operate the LeZotte Photography Studio for 35 years, where Margaret tinted and colored all of the photos. In the late 1970's, following Hubert suffering heart complications, Margaret went to work at TRW, which she continued for the next 10 years, retiring in 1987.

Margaret loved to entertain family and friends. Holidays were always big events at the LeZotte house, adorned with delicious food, a wide variety of desserts and customarily capped off with a family picture taken by Hubert. Margaret's sugar and fudge drop cookies were family favorites, but her pumpkin pie was known to cajole even the most staunch of pumpkin detractors. Margaret also had a proclivity for spoiling her son-in-law with the kinds of infrequent and unique dishes that nobody else in the family could quite appreciate in the same way.

Margaret had been an active and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala. Nearly every Sunday following church, Margaret would make her way to Hoke's Cafe with her friends, where she proceeded to order her "regular," a single pancake. She spent many wonderful moments over coffee conversing with her friends, who were very dear to her. Margaret loved to dance with her husband in younger years; and as a woman of faith, it is comforting to know that she has regained her favorite dance partner.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; infant granddaughter, Jill Elizabeth Amos; 2 sisters, Dorothy (& husband Max) Sanford, Ruby (& husband Leslie) Edwards; sister-in-law, Avis (& husband Mike) Brown, brother-in-law, Clarence Burnside, and sisters-in-law, Helen, Glenda, and Glenva Kenfield.

Survivors include her son, Bob (Pam) LeZotte of Lincoln; daughter, Sandy (Jim) Amos of Tecumseh; 4 grandchildren, Darin (Krista) LeZotte of Alexandria, VA, Dave (Alex) Amos of Lexington, Mark Amos of Van Nuys, CA and Erin Amos of Chicago, IL; 4 great grandchildren; Deshon Frye-Kerr of Lawrence, KS, Max Kerr, Tate & O'Brasia Amos, all of Lexington; sister, Donna Burnside of Auburn, WA; 3 brothers, Robert Kenfield of Brule, Howard and Harvey Kenfield both of Ogallala; along with several other relatives and friends.
