BEVERLY J MCGINNIS, 85 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Bev was born March 9, 1936, at Ogallala to Thomas Edward and Dorothy Doris (Madison) Thorpe. She attended school in both Ogallala and North Platte.

November 26, 1954, Darrell married Beverly June Thorpe at Greeley, Colorado. The couple made their home in Brule, and Bev worked at TRW as a solderer. Her career with the company spanned over 30 years. Bev and Darrell had moved back and forth between Brule and Ogallala a few times over the years but settled in Ogallala in the 1980s.

Bev and Darrell enjoyed the time they got to spend with grandchildren over the years. They enjoyed collecting various things; Bev had a particular penchant for all things Betty Boop. She had a good heart and enjoyed the simple joys of life.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, in 2014; and a sister, Georgia Meyer.

Survivors include her children, Judi (Kevin) Tjaden of Brule; Jim (Angela) McGinnis of Port Orchard, WA; 6 grandchildren, Stacy, Heather, Jason, Nathan, Warren, and Leah; 6 great-grandchildren, Dillon, Camron, Neveah, Connor, Seth, and Oliver Darrell; sister, Doris (Don) Envick of Kearney; brother-in-law, Dick Meyer of Moorhead, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Beverly's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

Graveside services will be Friday, July 30, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Ogallala Cemetery.

Memorial book signing will be Thursday, from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
