Bonnie Mundell

January 7, 1939 — May 30, 2015

BONNIE MUNDELL, 76 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 after a lengthy illness, at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Bonnie was born January 7, 1939 at Coeur d'Alene, ID to DeWitt and Ivy (Depew) Upchurch. She was raised on a 160 acre farm north of Rathdrum, Idaho. She attended Rathdrum High School, prior to marriage and raising four children.

Bonnie spent much of her early years as a beautician and a Certified Nursing Assistant. Bonnie resided various places throughout the country, prior to settling down in Denver, Co where she met and married Richard "Dick" Mundell on July 27,1990, in Lakewood, CO. They made their home in Denver until Dick's retirement in 2001, when they relocated to Ogallala.

Bonnie lived a colorful life and was identified early as a "kindred spirit". She was very gifted musically and could play several instruments. However, in her later years the piano was the instrument of choice. Bonnie had an affable way about her, a great sense of humor, a love for adventure, and an insatiable curiosity about everything. The memories of her adventures and sense of humor will be recounted and shared by family and friends with laughter and joy for many years to come.

Bonnie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, camping, boating and her flower gardens. She also was very involved in various volunteer activities in Ogallala and was a beloved Sunday School Teacher for several years. Bonnie and Dick enjoyed many cross county motorcycle trips prior to Dick's death in November 2006. She also was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her children, Beverly Lacey of Milton PA, Buckley Howell of Bayview, ID, Barbara Howell and Tina Smith, both of Ogallala; stepson, Scott (Valerie) Mundell of Littleton, CO; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will also be streamed live for those unable to attend.
