CHARLENE MARY EICHNER, 58, of Ogallala passed away peacefully Saturday July 8, 2017 at her home in the loving arms of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Charlene was born August 28, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Catherine "Pat" (Carpenter) Tokarski. She graduated from East Detroit High School.
On August 23, 1986, Charlene married Darrol Eichner at Ogallala and they made their home on the family farm north of town. Charlene worked as a cashier at the 6th Street Foods grocery store, later Sunmart, for many years. Charlene was a people person, and genuinely enjoyed interacting with the customers, often exchanging stories, recipes or just a warm smile. When she wasn't working, Charlene was spending time with her family, gardening, crafting, or perhaps cooking one of the many recipes that she'd bring home from work. Lastly, Charlene's faith was an important part of who she was, and a sustaining grace throughout an extended battle with cancer that spanned 4 years.
Charlene was preceded in death by her father; brother, Tony; brothers-in-law, Raymond Basgall & Mark Cot'e.
Survivors include her husband, Darrol Eichner of Ogallala; son, Steven Eichner of Lincoln; mother, Pat Tokarski of East Point, MI; sisters, Christine Basgall of Longmont, CO, Karen (Larry) Lemke of Grand Blanc, MI, Kelly Cot'e of East Point, MI, Donna (Jeff) Bell Naples, FL; brother, John (Soon) Tokarski of Golden, CO; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in Charlene's memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala with Pastor John Stubenrouch officiating. No interment of cremains is planned at this time.
