DONNA B. HOLSCHER, 87 of Ogallala, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Indian Hills Healthcare Community in Ogallala.
Donna was born on September 24, 1929 to Thomas J. Linn and Helen (Terry) Linn at the family home south of Paxton, Nebraska. She attended rural schools around Paxton through the 8th grade. When the family moved to Brule, Nebraska, Donna attended Ogallala High School graduating with the class of 1947. After high school she took Normal Training, which earned her a teachers license and she taught school at Keith County District 22 for two years.
On the 3rd of June 1949 she was married to Adolph Holscher. They lived on the family farm southeast of Ogallala and their union was blessed with two sons, Larry and Ryan.
Donna was a member of St Johns Lutheran Church, active in Dorcas Ladies Aid, LWML, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
In addition to raising her family and helping her husband Adolph with work on the farm, Donna worked at the Ogallala Community Hospital as a Nurses Aid and then later as an assistant X-ray technician. She also was a caregiver to both her parents and Adolph's parents in their later years.
Donna's joys were her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her flower garden.
Donna is survived by her 2 sons, Larry and wife Phyllis and Ryan all of Ogallala, a sister-in-law, Mary Linn of Denver, Co, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 nieces and their families and 2 nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; her parents; a twin sister, Dorothy at age 5; daughter-in-law, Louise; brother, Tom Linn and wife Phyllis; brother, Melvin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Don and Lois Rubenthaler & great grandson, Rogan.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will also be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10am at St. John's Lutheran Church southeast of Ogallala with Pastor Robert Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28th from 1pm to 6pm, with a Prayer Service at 7pm at Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
