DOUGLAS D. MARQUETTE, 66 of Paxton, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018, in Paxton.

Doug was born January 7, 1952, in Holyoke, Colorado. He graduated Paxton High School, where he was an excellent student-athlete. Doug went on to attend Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff and Nebraska Technical College in Sidney where he studied to be an electrician. It was while in Scottsbluff, that he met his future wife, Janette Merrigan. The two were married on May 27, 1972 at Mirage Flats, Nebraska, and were blessed with a daughter, Elizabeth (Libby). The family made their home in Windsor, Colorado, where Doug worked as an electrician for the Eastman Kodak Company, a job he did for nearly 30 years. Doug eventually returned to Paxton in 2006, where he helped at Marquette Feed & Seed and maintained irrigation canals in the area.

Doug enjoyed watching football, and always pulled hard for his favorite teams, the Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhuskers. He also spent quite a bit of time enjoying the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Doug also enjoyed watching the old westerns.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents; George and Dorothy; and a sister, Cynthia.

Survivors include his daughter, Libby (Joe) D'Aquila of Ft. Collins, CO; 2 grandsons, Frank and Luke D'Aquila of Ft. Collins, CO; his siblings, Pamela Larkin of North Platte, Barry (Cari) Marquette of Westminster, CO, Paula (Bill) Dugan of Parker, CO; along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established in Doug's memory for later designation by his family. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

A casual celebration of Doug's life will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Paxton United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Doug's cremains will be scattered by his family at a later date.
