Kathryn Thompson, age 87, of Ogallala, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1st at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eric Wait of the New Hope Church officiating.

Kathryn was born December 28, 1924 at Interior, South Dakota, the daughter of Homer and Pansy (Swan) Estes. She married James Yarbrough in March of 1943. To this union two children were born, Kay Susanne and Michael John. In January of 1955 Kathryn married Melvin Thompson. To this union three children were born, Tim, Steven and Richard. They moved to Julesburg, Colorado in 1965 and to Ogallala in 1970. After Tommy’s retirement in 1989 they moved to Arizona City, AZ until returning to Ogallala in 1993.

Kathryn's hobbies included reading, watching Denver Bronco and Nebraska Husker football, playing and watching golf, doing crossword puzzles, going to casinos and playing cards.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin “Tommy” Thompson of Ogallala; daughter, Sue and husband Gary Schrack of Ogallala; sons, Michael and wife Sharon Yarbrough of Omaha, NE, Tim Thompson of Surprise, AZ, Steven Thompson of Windsor, CO, Richard Thompson and Joseph Creasy of Apple Valley, CA; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; sisters, Florine and husband James Kamerzell of Gordon, NE and Phyllis Vanscoy of Gillette, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Estes.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association in her memory. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
