Larry Morrison

October 21, 1927 — June 29, 2012

Larry Morrison, age 84 of Ogallala, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3rd at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala with Pastor John Stubenrouch officiating. Committal services will be held at 3:00 p.m. CDT at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell.
Larry was born October 21, 1927 at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of John Shaw and Mary Helen (Wagonseller) Morrison. Larry grew up and graduated from high school in Great Bend. After his discharge from the United States Army he returned to Kansas and married Lavonne Miller in 1954. They later moved to Nebraska and to Oshkosh in 1967 where Larry managed the lumberyard for many years. He married Betty (Ahlmeyer) Armknecht on April 18, 1987 in Oshkosh. Larry raised horses for many years and after his retirement still stayed active assisting friends with handy man projects and loved to join his friends for a round of golf.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Ogallala; daughters, Lynn Morrison of Edgemont, SD, Lori Grady of Joplin, MO and Lisa (Randy) Smith of Kearney, NE; step daughters, Kathy (Paul) Taylor of Ogallala, Deb (Jerry) Rosentrater of Elsie and Cheryl (Kurt) Schiel of Ogallala; step son, Kevin (Deb) Armknecht of Ogllala; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren and 17 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Morrison, Jr. a sister, Janet Morrison and 3 step grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in his memory. Online condolences may be sent at gubserfuneralhome.com. Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
