Loy Robb

July 20, 1946 — December 26, 2017

LOY ROBB, 71 of Ogallala, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at his home.

Loy was born July 20, 1946, at Ogallala, Nebraska to Ralph and Emily (Morrell) Robb. Loy grew up in Arthur and later moved to Ogallala where he graduated with the Class of 1964. Loy attended Chadron State College before being drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam earning himself a Bronze Star for his meritorious service.

Following his discharge, Loy returned to Chadron State before going to work for the Alliance Paint Company. On February 20, 1971 he married Sue Williams. That same year, Loy started his own commercial painting business, Loy Robb Painting. Over the years, Loy completed countless jobs and developed a reputation for painting that was second to none. Loy continued to paint until just last year when his battle with cancer would no longer allow for him to work.

Loy was tireless in his work and had a reputation for doing things the right way; however, he also liked to have fun on the job site. He had a generous soul and was the type of man that showed up when it counted. Loy also did a lot of painting for people, whether or not they had the ability to pay.

Loy was a member of the Keith County Veteran's Organization and was a longtime member of the Ogallala Moose Lodge. Loy helped start the American Legion BINGO and called for over 30 years. He helped start the Ogallala Color Guard. He was VFW Commander District 4, Post 3755, and American Legion Commander post 135 He had also been active in little league baseball for many years. In his free time, Loy enjoyed camping and fishing and watching his grandchildren's activities.

To Loy, life was about relationships. He cared deeply for his family and close friends, and much-preferred spending time with them over going on vacations. He maintained close ties with the men he served with in Vietnam and considered them as brothers. His grandchildren added great meaning to his life; they were a source of immense happiness and pride.

Loy was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Don and Estell Williams; brother-in-law, Wayne Steward and Butch Williams; and sister-in-law, Donna Bailey.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Robb of Ogallala; Children, Kent (Brenda) Robb of Glendale, AZ, Renae (Gregg) Zink of Ogallala, Brent Robb (Melissa Ewert) of Ogallala; grandchildren, Trenton Zink (Bailey Leach) of Wayne, Dylon & Cameron Zink of Ogallala, Kory & Kylee Robb of AZ, Blake & Brooklyn Robb of Ogallala, Colin Walker and Colton Springer of Ogallala; as well as 1 great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Jerry Steward of Ogallala, Darlene (Mike) Hawley of Omaha; along with many other relatives and friends.
