MONA DAVISON, 80 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Ogallala, NE.
She was born January 3, 1935 at Sherkin Island, Ireland to Simon and Edith (Watson) McCarthy. As a young girl, Mona and her family moved to England, following the career of her father, who served in the Royal Navy.
Mona received her education in England, where she eventually met Richard "Dick" Davison, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force at the time. The couple later married on August 4, 1956 at Reading, England, where they resided for a year before moving to Salina, KS. Following Dick's discharge in 1972, the couple moved to Ogallala, where they would reside the rest of their married lives.
While in Ogallala, Mona had waited tables for a few years before taking a job with the Educational Service Unit #16 in Ogallala.
Family was the focal point of Mona's life, particularly her grandchildren. She also found joy in gardening, spending time at the lake and the occasional trip to Black Hawk, CO with family.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Virginia "Venie" & Marie; brother, Michael; brother-in-law, Melvin Dunn; & parents-in-law, Herb and Mary Davison.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Richard "Dick" Davison of Ogallala; son, Michael Richard (Peg) Davison of Ogallala; 3 grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan and Blake Davison all of Ogallala; 2 great grandchildren, Kelbey and Myles; sister, Peggy Weston of England; brothers, Jerome (Anna) McCarthy and Simeon (Betty) McCarthy all of England; along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will also be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Services will be held on August 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Father Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will follow in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be on August 5, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home.
