Myron “Bud” Jasnoch

April 28, 1933 — January 23, 2021

Myron "Bud" Jasnoch, 87, of Ogallala, passed away January 23, 2021, at his home.

Bud was born April 28, 1933, at Ogallala, Nebraska, to Joseph and Matilda (Cours) Jasnoch. He graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1950. Bud graduated from Doane College in 1958 and subsequently began a career in education and coaching that spanned over fifty years.

On August 3, 1954, Bud married Jody Kerst at Crete, Nebraska. Their union would be blessed with four children, Tim, Mary Lou, Julie, and Jim.

Graduating with a history degree, Bud went on to receive a Master's and Specialist's degree in Educational Adminstration from Chadron State College. Following a 10 year career as history instructor and coach in the Nebraska towns of Hay Springs, Cambridge, and Alliance, he served as Superintendent of Oshkosh, Sidney and Leyton Public schools in Dalton. After retiring in 1993 , Bud and Jody moved to Ogallala where he continued to offer administrative services and consult as a superintendent for many schools in the area, including Venango, Hyannis, Ashby, Paxton, and St. Luke's Catholic School. He was a lifelong proponent of learning and never fully stepped away from his role as such.

Bud had served on the ESU 16 Board in Ogallala from 1993 until 2018. At Doane, he received both the Sanderson Prize for outstanding scholarship and track performance, and the Bert Knapp Football Trophy. Bud was a Doane College Athletic Hall of Fame member and was an Honor D Award Recipient from the college. Bud's career in education was long and successful, laden with accolades and awards, but more importantly, enriched by having served and made a difference in the lives of the kids he taught and coached over the years.

Bud was talented and passionate. He was genuine, and as such, he touched many lives and made deep & long-lasting friendships. In his free time, Bud loved to fish, hunt, play golf, and spend time in the garden.

Bud was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Angela Lynn Jasnoch and Joseph Timothy Jasnoch; three brothers, Gilbert, Edwin, and Longene; four sisters, Evangeline, Lillian, Carolyn, and Lavina.
