Nathaniel John Ledgerwood

Nathaniel John "Nate" Ledgerwood, 74, died peacefully, after his long battle with prostate cancer, at his home in Ogallala, Nebraska, on January 16, 2021. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Nate was born in 1946 in Monterey, California, to Nathaniel "Nat" and Gertrude Ledgerwood. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1964. Following his graduation, Nate worked with his uncle, George M. Whitcomb, as a general contractor in Big Sur, California. From 1961 to 1964, he worked on homes for Henry Miller.

In November of 1965, Nate was drafted into the US Army but enlisted into the US Airforce. For the next year, Nate worked hard in basic training at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. After that, he spent time at Lowry Airforce Base in Colorado and McGuire Airforce Base in New Jersey.

Nate spent 1967 to 1968 in Danang, Vietnam. Nate was a proud Vietnam Vet and wore his vet hat proudly wherever he went in his final years.

Following his honorable discharge from the Airforce, Nate took a job at Coors Porcelain as a Set-Up Operator in 1969 and was quickly promoted to Supervisor that same year. This began a great 38-year career with Coors. From 1971 until 1977, Nate worked in Transload/Bottle Wash. From 1977 until 1996, Nate worked at the Glass Plant and finally at the RMMC Can Plant as Production Manager until his retirement in 2008. Because of his dedication and hard work, Nate was awarded the coveted Copper Kettle Award in 2000.

Nate is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen; daughter, Cori and her husband, Brian; son, TJ and his wife, Heather. Nate also leaves behind four grandchildren, Austin, Kaylee, Ryder, and Kelsey, and a sister, Patricia of Marina, CA.
