Nathaniel R. Maxcy

October 16, 1995 — August 18, 2018

NATHANIEL R. MAXCY, 22 of Lincoln, formerly of Sutherland, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Nathaniel was born October 16, 1995, at Omaha, Nebraska to Mike and Rachel (Jara) Maxcy. He lived in Ogallala most of his life, graduating from Sutherland High School in 2014. Nathaniel was a natural born athlete, a football star, and a track champ. He later moved to live the big city life in Lincoln, but Lake Mac and his grandparents always brought him home.

Nathaniel loved life and having fun. He had a passion for music and was a great dancer. He was talented artistically and enjoyed spending time sketching and painting. Nathaniel loved sports and taking in concerts of various kinds. He had a big heart, was soft-spoken, and was very kind. When he came home to visit, he always came in the door to give hugs before he ever brought anything in. For those who were fortunate enough to get to know him, Nathaniel was a free-spirit who lived in the present. He was a dreamer. He was a leader. He could enter a room and brighten it with his smile. His positivity created a presence that was felt before he was seen or heard. But the most beautiful thing about him was the kind and gentle human being he was. Even though Nathaniel is physically not with us, he will always remain part of our lives. Many hold special memories that were shared with him. Those conversations, the good times and all the laughs, hold those memorable moments close to your heart and do not forget them. He will remain among us as long as we allow him to. Memories only last if you share them. Share those memories with each other and keep him alive, and perhaps, in time we can put the pieces of our hearts slowly back together.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Harold Maxcy, step-grandfather, Richard Whitehead Sr.; and an aunt, Linda Maxcy.

Nathaniel is survived by his father, Mike (Melissa) Maxcy of Ogallala; mother, Rachel (Richard) Whitehead of Omaha; his half-siblings, R.K. and Lilly Whitehead, both of Omaha, step-siblings, Dominick and Tyanna Maxcy, both of Ogallala; grandparents, David (Kathy) Maxcy of Ogallala, Junior (Alvina) Jara of Ogallala; step-grandmother, Kathy Jensen of McCook; step-grandmother, Margie Whitehead of Dallas, TX; great-grandparents, Bill & Shirley Logsdon of Bayard; great-grandmother, Ellen Maxcy of Bayard; his girlfriend, Tiffany Hui of Omaha; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and good friends.
