Nettie Mae Schneider

November 28, 1936 — August 25, 2011

Nettie Mae (Kaiser) Schneider, age 74, of Ogallala, lost another courageous battle with cancer on Thursday morning, August 25, 2011at her home. She was born November 28, 1936 to George Wayne and Emma Marie (Gilchrist) Kaiser at Imperial, Nebraska. Nettie had an older sister, Jane Garska and a younger sister, Nellie Ogg, both of Ogallala.

Nettie grew up out on the prairie southwest of Champion, NE. She went to a one-room schoolhouse, with three pupils, namely her and her sisters. She loved riding horses, and loved country music; playing her guitar and composing songs. Nettie says, “If you are in the pasture when the breezes blow, you may still hear my voice.”

Upon graduating high school in 1954 from the Chase County High School she moved to Ogallala and worked for Goodall Electronics and TRW. In 1974, Nettie and her family moved to Ripon, CA. There she took up nursing as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working for Bethany Convalescent Home and the Doctor’s Hospital. A serious back injury ended her career. In 1992, Nettie moved to Nebraska where she was employed at ASC and loved her job.

Nettie had a host of friends; she never knew a stranger. Her home reflects her personality – her love of horses, Country Western music and the bible. She studied with Victory Bible College and attended the Four Square Church. Nettie overcame a battle with cancer ten years ago and chose the Bible verse Isaiah 40:31 as her personal scripture. She never complained and always said “today is another good day.”

Nettie leaves a host of friends along with her four children, Rhonda Franken of Wray, CO; Jimmie Schneider of Antioch, TN; Nancy Tyler of Ogallala; and Kenneth and wife Suzie Schneider of Corpus Christi, TX. She had seven grandchildren, BJ Franken, Berk and Roxanne Tyler, Jessica Schmidt, Trevor and Dylan Schneider and Christine Conboy. Nettie also leaves three great grandchildren, Uriah and Stephan Schmidt and Charlotte Conboy. Two sisters, Jane Garska and Nellie Ogg of Ogallala; and three nieces she really enjoyed, Debbie Redden of Grant,NE, Janet Emery of Berthod, CO and Cheryl Statler of Lemoyne, NE and a favorite cousin, Dale Wayne Fisher of Marysville, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother in laws, Robert Ogg and Howard Garska.

Cremation was chosen. At Nettie’s request there are no memorial services scheduled. Gubser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
