ROBERT “COB” RENKER

Robert “Cobbie” Renker, age 69 of Arthur formerly of Denver, CO, passed away July 21, 2014 at Arthur, Nebraska.
Cobbie was born February 14, 1945 at Lexington, Nebraska to Walter H. and Leona M. (Welliver) Renker. Cobbie attended Lexington High School and graduated from Mapleton High School in Colorado.
Following his schooling Cob took a job at Safeway in the meat department, a job he held until his retirement in 1985. In 1995, Cobbie and his sister, Dixie, purchased the Long Branch Tavern in Arthur. Cob travelled back and forth from Denver to Arthur on a regular basis. He didn’t like to stay in one place too long, even in his retirement. Most recently, Cobbie had made his home in rural Arthur County with his dear friend and partner, Emma Robertson.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time at Lake McConaughy, fishing, hunting and camping. He also liked hunting around the hills of Arthur for arrowheads.
He was a caring and generous person. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. It was always important to Cob that the people around him were having fun.
Cobbie is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Gary and Kenneth Renker; 2 sisters, Phyllis Eaton and Janice Fravel.
Survivors include his 3 daughters, Dawn (Erik) Larson of Arvada, CO; Rhonda (Rob) Browne of Littleton, CO; Brookie Renker (Michelle Brown) of Littleton, CO; 4 grandchildren, Ella, Brock, Ashley and Amber; 1 great granddaughter, Aldiyana; 2 sisters, Dixie (Tom) Thompson of Holdrege, Katherine (Wally) Woodhead of Grant; brother, Glen Renker of Lexington; Rachel Renker of Lakewood, CO and a host of other relatives and close friends.
