TROY CHANEY, 58 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Troy was born July 2, 1957 at Winter Haven, Florida to Joe and Marie (Hinson) Chaney. He attended school at Lakeland, Florida.

Following his education, Troy worked in construction for several years. Troy struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for many years. He lived on the streets in Florida prior to moving to Ogallala to be closer to family. His struggles continued for several years, and were compounded by a cancer diagnosis, which left him unable to work.

For nearly 29 months, Troy had continuously made the decision to live a life of sobriety. This change allowed for him to view and live life with a new and different perspective, it also allowed for him to build and nurture a relationship with God. Sobriety brought about a better version of Troy that many came to enjoy. He was kind hearted, loved to make others smile, and was generally gregarious. The changes he made in his life were done with quiet resolve, which earned the respect and admiration of those closest to him. Despite his death and the struggles of his past, Troy's story ends as one of redemption.

Troy frequented garage sales and enjoyed fishing. He loved joking around with others and watching a good movie. Troy came to place great value on his family, and the friends he made at his apartment complex.
