In Loving Memory of Alma Ione (Bryant) Schulz-Ogallala, NE - June 8th, 1928 to December 30th, 2023.
Alma peacefully passed away on the evening of December 30th at the age of 95 years. She was a beloved mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Great-great-grandma. Besides raising her own children, she and her husband Carl opened their home to many children, giving them guidance and teaching positive work ethics.
Alma was born on June 8th, 1928 to Harry and Pearl Bryant. She was delivered by her father on the family Sandhills farm near the mouth of Birdwood Creek, North of Sarben, NE. Alma was a true Sandhills girl riding her horse to Rosedale school district #53 with her brothers. When Alma was 13, the family moved to Sarben, NE and she rode the bus to Paxton-Sarben Schools, graduating in 1946. While going to High School during World War II, members of her Cheerleading squad became lifelong best friends. Alma had fond memories of when she was a teenager of making trips to the North Platte Canteen to help serve food to the troops.
After High School, Alma moved to Ogallala to work at Goodall's. Walking home from work is how she meet her husband Carl. They married on March 26th, 1948. They honeymooned on the West Coast, taking Carl's mother, Mary, with them. They briefly resided and worked on the Schulz family farm before moving to Fairplay, Colorado, in 1948, where they maintained the family ranch. While in Fairplay, they were blessed with two children. They moved back home in 1953 to the farm South of Brule, NE, to assist Carl's mother in farming and feeding cattle. Two more children were welcomed to the family. Alma enjoyed working the farm, working cattle, keeping the books, cooking for the family, and helping. They sold the farm in the early 70's and moved to Ogallala. Alma enjoyed painting, taking bus trips to the area casinos, and traveling to Las Vegas. Alma worked at the family bar and enjoyed meeting and visiting with the patrons.
