Anneliese Roberts, 88, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, NE.

Anneliese was born August 4, 1934 in Ismaning, Germany to Franz and Anna Trumler. Her childhood was spent under the rule of Nazi Germany. During WWII, she attended school at Volkschule in Munich-Reim, Germany. She was accepted into a cosmetology apprenticeship. She finished her apprenticeship within three years and received her degree in cosmetology. After graduating, she worked as a journeyman cosmetologist until she married her husband and moved to the United States. She could not travel to the United States until she was approved for immigration into the United States. This took about six months. She received her naturalization on May 8, 1952.

Anneliese married the love of her life, John Roberts, on March 17, 1952 in Munich, Germany, and to this union six children were born. As her children grew, Anneliese worked as a cosmetologist in Alma, NE and Orleans, NE. She worked in this career for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed watching her children's involvement in various sporting activities and school activities. She also enjoyed watching her children's involvement with their horse showings. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband John to Arizona and California. Anneliese enjoyed cooking her many German dishes for her family. She could always make the best pot roast, cookies for her grandchildren, and various desserts. She also enjoyed gardening. She had an unbelievable green thumb and grew the most beautiful flowers.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. She was a woman of Faith and a devoted Catholic and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She resided at Fort Dodge, KS near Dodge City , KS with her husband John until his passing in July 2020. She cherished her time as a volunteer with many U.S. veterans. She enjoyed making crafts with John until she lost her eyesight to macular degeneration. She and her husband were very involved with the veteran's poppy program for many years while residing at Fort Dodge, KS. For the past two years, she resided in Ogallala, NE with her daughter Sue and her family. She loved her pet dachshunds, Schnapps, Heidi, and Rusty.

She was blessed with a wealth of family. She and her husband were happily married for 68 years before John was called home.

She is survived by a brother, Franz Trumler and wife Carol of Boelus, NE; brother-in-law, Francis Hofmeyer from CA; two sons, Johnnie Roberts and wife Vicki of Paradise, KS; Donald Roberts and his wife Sheila of Phillipsburg, KS; four daughters, Anna Ledbetter and husband Rick of Wallard, TN; Helen Rains and her husband Cecil of Amarillo, TX; Sue England and husband Scott of Ogallala, NE; and Pamela Roberts and partner, Jim Goracke of Bucklin, KS; 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Anna Trumler, her husband, John Roberts, and a sister, Sieglinde Hofmeyer.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 10:00 am at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Wright, KS. Rosary will be Thursday at 7:00 pm at the church. Inurnment will follow Mass at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Fort Dodge, KS.
