Barbara Clark, 83, of Campbell, Nebraska, and formerly of Lake McConaughy and Dacono, Colorado, passed away on June 29, 2025, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Nebraska.
Barbara was born on March 18, 1942, in Missouri, the daughter of Ivan and Margaret Geer. Her family moved to Denver, Colorado, when she was young. Barbara began working at Gates Rubber Company, where she did piece work, eventually becoming treasurer of the union. She retired from Gates in 1993. Barbara also did taxes for H&R Block in Ogallala, Nebraska retiring in 2015.
Barbara married the love of her life January 20, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Barbara and her husband lived in Dacono, Colorado, until their retirement. In 1994, they purchased a home at Lake McConaughy, where they enjoyed many peaceful years together. In June of 2022, Barbara moved to Campbell, Nebraska, to be closer to her granddaughter and great-granddaughters.
Barbara was Catholic by faith. She loved having a good time, and more often than not, she was laughing. She loved playing cards, cheering for the Denver Broncos, watching movies, shopping, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Her joy was contagious-wherever Barbara was, laughter was sure to follow. Her sense of humor, warmth, and unforgettable laugh left an impression on everyone she met.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Margaret Geer; her siblings, Carroll Geer and Mary Tanner; her husband, Dean Clark; and her daughter, Cheryl Ellis.
Survivors include her sister Linda McKinnie of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, her daughter, Donna Crain of Ogallala; her son, James (LaDonna) Smith of Sterling, Colorado; Her step son Tim Clark; grandchildren Christopher Byrne, Terry-Lee (Ashley) Washko of Texas, Sarena (Daniel) Talarico of Campbell, Jeremiah Smith (Sterling); her great grandchildren, Trinity, Terry-Lee Washko III, Brooke, Peyton, Kylee, and Atticus; nephews Melvin (Dawn) Shrewsberry, Richard (Rose) Coca, Leroy (Julian), and her niece Jocosa (Eric), and many more great nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Deacon Dixon Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska.
