Jeffery Christopher Hubbard

Aug 22, 1972 — Sep 5, 2026

Jeffery Christopher “Chris” Hubbard, 54, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away September 5, 2026, at Lake McConaughy, Ogallala Nebraska, as a result of a jet ski accident.

Chris was born on August 22, 1972, in Greeley, Colorado, to Claudia (Collard) Hummel and Larry Hubbard. He grew up in Greeley, where he graduated from Greeley West High School in 1992. Chris was proud to have served as an altar boy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church throughout his youth.

Chris worked for numerous companies, with his most recent job at Moore Security. He especially enjoyed the security shifts he was assigned to at sporting events in Northern Colorado and Denver. Being close to the action suited him, because sports were the great love of his life. He had been a participant of the Special Olympic teams beginning at age 20 until the time of his passing, competing in softball, basketball, bowling and bocce ball. Chris was a devoted Denver Bronco fan, a huge Nuggets fan with a soft spot for Nikola Jokic, and he followed the Colorado Rockies, CU Football, and CU women’s basketball teams with the same steady loyalty. Family and friends will tell you that Chris hated rules, though they’d say it with a smile.

He is survived by his mother, Claudia Hummel (Frank) of Boulder, Colorado and stepsister, Beth Chaffee (Jon) of Scottsdale, AZ and his father, Larry Hubbard of Princeton, IL, half brothers, Robert and Andrew Hubbard of IL and stepsister, Allison (Jerad) Foster of IL. He’s also survived by several loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Irene Hubbard of Illinois and Claude Collard and Alice Weir of Colorado.

We would like to give a special thanks to Luke Usery, his home provider, for all the love and support he gave Chris the past several years and for being with him when he passed. Chris considered him one of his best friends.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish, 904 14th Street, Boulder, CO, on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
