Clinton "Clint" James Halligan

May 10, 1939 — January 24, 2024

Clinton James "Clint" Halligan, 84, of Ogallala, passed away at his home on January 24, 2024.

Clint was born on May 10, 1939, in Brule, Nebraska, on the family farm to Henry and Mabel (Frates) Halligan. He graduated from the University of Nebraska's Technical School of Agriculture in Curtis, followed by earning a degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

During the Berlin Crisis, Clint was called to serve in the U.S. Air Force, where he gladly served his country. On June 6, 1964, he married Joanie Smyth. Their union was blessed with three children: Tara, Sean, and Erin.

Clint initially assisted his father on the family farm and cattle operation before developing an interest in insurance. He entered the insurance profession part-time, eventually dedicating himself fully to the field a few years later.

An ambitious entrepreneur at heart, Clint loved a challenge. He ventured into real estate development, restaurants, leasing, and farming, alongside his insurance career.

A man deeply rooted in his community, Clint's family was awarded the Pioneer Award, recognizing his family as one of the original homesteads in Keith County.

A devoted parishioner at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala, Clint was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and served on the parish council for many years.

Clint was a loving father, husband, and grandfather. The birth of his grandchildren added a new dimension to his life. He cherished family time and enjoyed taking them on vacations filled with memorable moments.

Clint was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dwight Halligan.

He is survived by his wife, Joanie, of Ogallala; children, Tara (Brad) Masek of Overland Park, KS, Sean Clinton (Christine) Halligan of Sioux Falls, SD, and Erin (Jeramy) Blocker of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Liam, Aiden, and Ella Masek; Duncan and Ryker Halligan; Ronan, Finelle, and Kilian Trummer; sister, Shirley (Knudson) of Billings, MT; and numerous relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's Catholic Church Knights of Columbus. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the funeral mass will be streamed live.
