DORIS D. WILSON, 90, longtime Ogallala resident, passed away March 26, 2026, at Blue Hill, NE.
Doris was born June 12, 1935, at Big Springs, NE, to Harold and Bessie (Richter) Allen. She was raised in the area and graduated from Sterling High School.
Following her schooling, Doris moved to Ogallala in 1954, where she began working at Goodall. On September 3, 1954, she married Leonard "Boe" Wilson. The couple made their home in Ogallala for their entire married lives. In January of 1959, their daughter, Deborah, joined their union.
Doris worked for TRW and Goodall during her working years, serving as a warehouse manager. After retiring from TRW, she drove the handy bus for a few years and later gave tours at the Mansion on the Hill.
Outside of work, she enjoyed a full and active life. She spent many years bowling, both competitively and socially, and especially valued the friendships she formed through the bowling leagues. She also dedicated many years to helping with youth bowling, something she truly loved, and many in the community remember her involvement. She also enjoyed playing cards, attending garage sales, and spending time with family. Doris loved to travel and took several trips with her sister, Barb, including to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Alaska, as well as a trip to New Zealand and Australia. She was a down-to-earth person who appreciated the simple pleasures of life and good company.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard "Boe" Wilson; and her brother and sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Deb Nelsen of Blue Hill and her husband, Kim; grandchildren, Marcy (Brandon) Ware of Spring, TX, Kerri (Ryan) Teter of Omaha, Mandy (Ryan) Meyer of Blue Hill, and Kristi (Trever) Dunkin of Walton; nine great-grandchildren, Bayleigh, Addy, Chloe, Haidyn, Kara, Brecken, Hunter, Harper, and Haze; sister, Barbara Cotton of Denver; special nephew, Bruce Wilson of Ogallala; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
