Jeanette Lehl

June 8, 1943 — December 1, 2022

JEANETTE LEHL, 79, of Ogallala, passed away on December 1, 2022, at her home.

Jeanette was born on June 8, 1943, to Maurice and Naomi Spencer in Louisville, KY. The family moved to Ogallala in 1957 when her mom went to work at Allied Manufacturing in Ogallala. Jeanette graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1962.

Jeanette married Kenneth Lehl on June 24, 1964, and subsequently went to work for TRW Manufacturing until her son, Michael, was adopted in 1970. In 1971, Jeanette started an in-home daycare, which she operated for over fifty years. She cared for generations of children, earning a special place in countless families and the hearts of a great many people.

Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her granddaughters, Amanda and Rebekah, her many friends, and all the daycare children she looked after over the many years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and experienced firsthand the gentle spirit that she possessed.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi; husband, Kenny; brother, Wayne (Tex) Spencer; in-laws, Ed and Pauline Lehl; and brothers-in-law, Richard, Ron, and Don Lehl.

She is survived by a son, Michael Lehl of Trenton, MO; granddaughters, Amanda and Rebekah Lehl of Omaha; daughter-in-law, Mary Hammond of Omaha; sisters-in-law and family, Judy Lehl of Brule, Cathy (Lynn) Miller of Brule, Nancy Lehl of Ogallala and Charlene Lehl of Oshkosh; nieces and nephews, Crystal and family, Tom and family and Tracey; special friends Kristie and Jacob Wendell; along with other family members and dear friends.

Her dog, Red, is living comfortably with her granddaughter, Rebekah.
