JERRY LEIGH STEWARD, 86, of Ogallala, passed away May 20, 2025, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.
Jerry was born August 10, 1938, in Arthur, Nebraska, to Ralph "Shorty" and Emma (Morrell) Robb. She grew up in the Sandhills and graduated from Arthur High School.
On March 21, 1959, Jerry married Wayne Steward in Ogallala. The couple made their home there and were blessed with three children: Kendace, Kevin, and Karma.
Jerry dedicated over 40 years to working in nursing, having served both as a nurse aide and ward clerk. She also ran a daycare for several years. Working in nursing, Jerry was incredibly conscientious and caring. Her patients and co-workers benefited from her temperament, which was warm and social.
Jerry's faith was an essential part of her life, and she enjoyed being a part of New Hope Church. She had the gift of gab and loved to tell a good story. Jerry also had a knack for gift-giving, and she always managed to find something uniquely suited to her recipient. Her love for her grandchildren seemed endless, and she poured herself into their lives as best she could. She especially loved attending their sporting events and cheering them on from the stands.
Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her parents; her sister, Darlene Hawley; and her brother, Loy Robb.
Survivors include her children, Kendace (Joe) Peters and Karma (Bart) Voycheske, all of Ogallala; son, Kevin (April) Steward of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren, Chris, Cody (Kristen), Lizzy, Tucker (Shannon), Ciara (Mitch), Joshua (LaRay), Lauren, Jordan, and Gracie; great-grandchildren, Emajyn, Maximus, Shadix, Oaklynn Ruth, Asher, Elliott; along with many other relatives and friends.
