Julie Newman

Jul 20, 1949 — Jul 10, 2026

JULIA ANN NEWMAN, 76 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026 at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE.

Julia was born July 20, 1949, in Ogallala, to Augustine Jimenez and Dorothy (Banks) Jimenez. She grew up in the Ogallala area and made her home there throughout her life. On February 8, 1986, Julie married Richard Allen Newman, and the two built a life together in Ogallala.

Julia was a familiar presence in her community, known to those who loved her simply as Julie. She was a constant in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the bonds she kept with family were the center of her world.

Grandma, mother, sister, Aunt and GiGi. These are the names Julie collected over her lifetime and she wore them like each one was a badge of honor. To her they weren't just names, they were the proof of the love she gifted us. But to us she was more. She was our home. She was comfort when the stress was running us down.

She was mom to 5 beautiful and complicated daughters and endless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From band-aids and magic healing kisses. To the way her face would light up when she laughed then scolded us when our jokes got out of hand. She watched us grow older, into adulthood. Watched our children grow. We watched the way you held our family together like glue even through the devastating news of losing Grandpa and Shianne.

Then we watched you grow older. Watched you struggle with sickness as we held our breaths. Watched you fight and win every battle. Watched as your beautiful hair turned white. We watched until the tiredness in your eyes grew overwhelming. Till you closed your eyes for the last time. Allowing the fear, tiredness and pain to melt away. Now you can finally rest. Forever in our hearts.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Newman; a granddaughter, Shianne Thompson; great grand child Osmond, her sister, Pearleen Copley; and her brother, Albert Jimenez.

She is survived by her children Desiree (Michael) Knoles, Sheila Jimenez, Renae Davis, Penny Saxton, and Melanie Saxton; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her siblings Laura (Ray) Bryant of North Platte, June Westby of Ogallala, and Ira (Mary) Copley of Sidney.

Per the family's wishes, no services will be held.

A memorial has been established in Julie's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
