Leslie L. Gerold

Leslie L. Gerold, 79, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away July 18, 2026, at Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala.

Les was born April 9, 1947, in Corvallis, Oregon, to Adolph Gerold and Emma (Laufman) Gerold. Les met Charlene Ann Beers in Ogallala, and on June 3, 1966, the two were married in Ovid, Colorado. Together they raised three children, Troy, Christine, and Robert. Les and Charlene made their home in Ogallala, buying the house they would settle into in 1969, and they stayed there together until Charlene's health declined and she moved in with their daughter Chris and son-in-law John Vian in Brule.

In the early years, Les took on odd jobs in and around the Ogallala area before buying the local vault company and running it himself. He drove fuel for Magnuson Oil as a bulk fuel delivery man, and along the way, he also put in time at B and J's Hitching and at Farmer's Coop.

Les was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Ann (Beers) Gerold; his son, Troy Gerold; and his siblings.

He is survived by his children, Christine (John) Vian of Brule, Nebraska, and Robert (Ginger) Gerold; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and bonus family, Casey Rodriguez and his girls.

There will be a small get-together of friends and family on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Les' home: 801 West 7th Street, Ogallala, NE 69153.
