Linda Kay Sheldon of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away June 8, 2026, at Perkins County Health Services in Grant, Nebraska, at the age of 79.
Linda was born September 28, 1946, in Denver, Colorado, to Rex Loraine Peterson and Lois Jean (Elder) Peterson. She graduated from Ogallala High School.
On October 29, 1966, Linda married David Paul Sheldon in Ogallala, Nebraska, and the two were blessed with two children.
Linda spent her working years close to home. In her younger days, she was the soda fountain girl at Buenz Drug, a job she held for years. She later worked for Hubert Lezotte before joining the Ogallala Medical Group, where she handled billing services for the hospital. Away from work, Linda's flower beds were her pride and joy, aside from her family, who she fiercely loved.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, David, in 2024, and by her parents.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Monica Lynne (Marlow) Cherrington of Ogallala; her son, David Douglas (Nickole) Sheldon of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Shelby (Josh Covel) and Justin Cherrington, Izabella (Sheldon) Sykes, and David, Hunter, Carlie, and Liam Sheldon; great-granddaughter Laikelynn Elizabeth Sykes; her sister, Karla Lawler; and her brother, Lonnie (Sharlyn) Peterson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Timothy Steele II officiating. Inurnment will be at the Ogallala Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Linda's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live.
