MARTIN LEWIS LARSEN, 93, of Arthur, passed away March 25, 2026, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
Martin was born June 20, 1932, in Minden, Nebraska, to Eddie and Nell (Newbanks) Larsen. He spent his early years in Nebraska before moving with his family to Wages, Colorado, where they operated a country store, gas station, and post office. From a young age, Martin developed a strong work ethic, helping on the family farm and learning to operate equipment by the age of 11.
His family later returned to Arthur County, where he graduated from Arthur County High School. Martin proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958.
Following his service, he spent many years in California working as an appliance delivery driver for Sears and Western Appliance before retiring.
On October 16, 1982, he married Lydia Garcia Cabel. They made their home in San Jose, California before returning to Arthur post-retirement, where Martin enjoyed a quieter ranch lifestyle surrounded by family.
Martin will be remembered as a hardworking and devoted family man. He was often one of the first family would call if they needed help. He had a quiet, soft-spoken nature, paired with sharp and often unexpected wit. He loved tinkering, spending time outdoors, auctions, and especially enjoyed the companionship of his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, DeLoris Dancer, Gwendolyn Larsen, Spencer Larsen, and Bruce Larsen.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia Larsen of Arthur; son, Spencer (Marla) Larsen of Gretna; grandchildren, Ezekiel Miller and Georgia Larsen; sisters, Joan Hines of Boulder City, NV, Mary Muller of Arthur, Emma Robertson of Ogallala; sisters-in-law, Joan Larsen and Marlene Larsen of Arthur; along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
