Maxine E. Kalkowski, age 84 of Ogallala, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant.

Maxine was born August 8, 1931 at Ogallala, Nebraska to Adolph and Leona (Stopak) Cuba. She graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1949.

On April 2, 1951, Maxine was united in marriage to Ronald A. Kalkowski at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala. The couple made their home in Ogallala and their union was blessed with 5 children.

Maxine was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, and her strong faith was always a focal point in her life.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and 3 sisters, Rosaline Cuba, Salomae "Mae" Krajewski and Helen Cuba

Maxine is lovingly survived by her husband, Ronald A. Kalkowski of Ogallala; 4 sons, Scott Kalkowski and his wife Karen, Tom Kalkowski, Steve Kalkowski and his wife Donna and Kelly Kalkowski; daughter, Sheila Jorgensen and her husband Jerry; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Eileen Combs; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in her memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at < >, where the services will be streamed live for those unable to attend.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala with Father Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Sunday, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 5:00 PM at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala.
