Mona Rae Lierley of Grant, NE passed away peacefully at her home on May 3, 2016 following a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and husband of 32 years, Pat Lierley. She was born November 6, 1959 in Ogallala, NE to Carl and Charlene Walker.
Mona was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and devoted member of the Catholic Church, serving as youth coordinator and secretary. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She loved working in her flower garden and giving back to her community. Mona took much pride in her career at Ann's and Grant Floral with a special fondness for the 18 years she spent at Hatch's Grocery Store.
Mona was preceded in death by her grandparents, Geraldine "Goosie" Fenwick and Charles Fenwick.
Mona is survived by her parents Carl and Charlene Walker of Loveland, CO; husband Pat of Grant, NE.; daughters, Shelby (Mitch) Cotner of Greeley, CO and Ramsey Lierley of Ft. Collins, CO; son Murphy Lierley and fiance Kelli Schumacher of Lincoln, NE; grandsons Keegan and Kooper Cotner; brothers, Terry (Stephanie) Walker of Phoenix, AZ, Shawn (Heather) Walker of Loveland, CO, and Shannon Walker of Pueblo, CO; sisters, Tracey (Ken) Hall of Las Vegas, NV and Michele McCreath and fiance Bob Farmer of Ft. Collins, CO; mother-in-law, Mary (Lawrence) Lierley-Wulf, sisters-in-law, Kathie (Gary) Hartman of Mesquite, NV and Jeannie (Terry) Reimers of Ogallala; uncle, Ed (Betsy) Fenwick of Caldwell, ID. Mona was also survived by several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or donor's choice. Condolences may be shared online at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 6pm with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Mothers of Sorrows Catholic Church in Grant, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:30am at the Mothers of Sorrows Catholic Church. Cremation will follow with interment of cremains in the Ogallala Cemetery at a later date.
