Myron Bassett

Myron Lamont Bassett, 76, of Ogallala, NE, passed away on July 8, 2024, at his home.

Myron was born on December 1, 1947, in Kimball, SD, the son of Vernon Glen and Virginia May (Ostrander) Bassett.

Myron spent his early years in York, NE, and on August 3, 1968, Myron married Dorisla "Doris" M. Kramer. Though the couple would later divorce, their union was blessed with four children: Tammy, Kevin, William, and Edward.

Myron moved to Ogallala in 1997 to be closer to family. He worked as a welder throughout his career, notably for Zimmatic and TA, before retiring in 2007. He was known for his ornery yet funny demeanor, love for the Huskers, and enjoyment of NASCAR, Coca-Cola, and Eagles. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and lived life to the fullest.

Myron is survived by his children, Tammy Rose of York, Kevin Bassett of McCool Junction, William (Amanda) Bassett of Aurora, and Edward (Tonya) Bassett of Ogallala; his siblings, Robert Myers, Glen Bassett, and Juanita Crago; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Glen Bassett and Virginia May Ostrander.

Interment of cremains will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Albion at a later date.
