Patricia Ann Darnell

PATRICIA ANN DARNELL, 87, of Ogallala, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning, June 22, 2022. She was the first child born to Henry and Nellie Mayden on February 1, 1935, in Ogallala, Nebraska. Except for a few years when her father worked construction in North Carolina, she spent her life in Ogallala.

Pat graduated from Ogallala High School in 1953 and began working at the telephone company as an operator. She was employed at the Stickney's Stores in Ogallala and Grant and finished her working career as a Police dispatcher for Ogallala and Keith County for many years. On January 31, 1955, Patricia married Robert J. Darnell at the United Methodist Church in Ogallala.

They had two children, William (Bill) and Hallie. Pat was a Boy Scout den mother and a brownie scout leader for several years and enjoyed instrumental music. Her family remembers fondly her homemade chocolate sheet cake. Everyone would ask her so that she would bring one to every family holiday meal or birthday party.

Patricia Ann Darnell was the person who wanted the best for other people and enjoyed helping them whenever she could. As the ultimate worrier for her entire family, Pat's constant concern for their welfare and their success showed the extreme love and dedication that she felt for her children, her husband, and her extended family. She was someone who seemed always to be present, as a quiet force, when you needed her.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Robert Darnell of Ogallala; her son, William Darnell and his wife Maddie of Omaha, NE; her daughter, Hallie Darnell of Cheyenne, WY; three grandsons, Andrew Darnell and wife Julie of Burbank, CA, Evan Darnell of Lincoln, Darek Darnell of Omaha; and one great-grandson Robin.
