Robert Wayne Liggett

October 30, 1952 — October 9, 2025

ROBERT LIGGETT, of Ogallala, passed away October 9, 2025, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Robert was born in Ogallala, Nebraska, to Harold and Betty (Hudson) Liggett. He attended school in Ogallala and spent much of his life in the area.

Robert had a great sense of humor and was ornery in the best of ways, always ready with a joke or a good-natured jab. He loved to fish, and like any good fisherman, he developed a talent for telling "fisherman's tales."

Robert's father was a truck driver and owned Liggett Brothers, so from a young age, he was drawn to the world of trucking. He spent much of his free time hanging around the truck stop, where he enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee and watching the rigs come and go. Though Robert never became a truck driver himself, he had a lifelong love for trucks and the people who ran them. In the old days, Robert could often be found at Liggett Bros. helping with small jobs-airing up tires, changing oil, and lending a hand where he could. In later years, Robert worked at the truck stop and the old Holiday Inn, where he washed dishes.

Robert loved good food, a good laugh, and good company. He never married, but he loved to give good-natured attention to the ladies. Robert always had a soft spot for his dogs, and it was rare for him not to have one by his side. He often enjoyed taking walks around town with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Edith Liggett.

Survivors include his sisters, Linda (Todd) Hudson of Ogallala and Cathy Liggett of Ogallala; nieces, Charlotte (Leila) Hudson of Ogallala, Tonya (Edward) Bassett of Ogallala, and Shianne Stotler of Ogallala; great nephews, Zachary, Matthew, Cole, Aiden, and Jaxson; and many other relatives and friends.

Cremation was chosen, and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
