Terri Hendon

July 18, 1967 — February 10, 2026

TERRI LEIGH HENDON, 58, of Paxton, passed away February 10, 2026, at her home in Paxton.

Terri was born July 18, 1967, in Deadwood, South Dakota, to John and Patricia (Schimpf) Davis. She grew up in Ogallala, where she attended Ogallala High School. On June 3, 1983, she married Jerry "Dean" Hendon in Julesburg, Colorado.

Following their marriage, Terri and Jerry made their home in Ogallala before living in Imperial and Grant. They would eventually settle in Paxton in 1994. Over the years, Terri worked at the Stage Store and later for Sapp Bros Petroleum before taking a position at the TA Travel Center, where she served as general manager for a number of years. She was known as a hard worker who took pride in doing her job well.

Terri loved the ocean and enjoyed traveling, taking nearly 20 cruises over the years. She cherished her time outdoors, and loved riding her Gator and four-wheelers. When the kids were young, she and Dean loved to spend time at the lake as a family, water skiing, boating, and camping whenever they had the chance. Terri took great pride in her home, keeping it beautiful inside and out with flowers and careful attention. Terri was also excellent at baking and even operated her own cake business prior to her time at Sapp Brothers. She deeply loved every minute she spent with her grandchildren and always had a special place in her heart reserved for her dogs, Paris and Koda.

Twenty-five years ago, Terri was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that weighed heavily on her. In 2024, Terri was diagnosed with cancer, which she fought courageously until Tuesday morning, when she embarked on her final trip.

Terri was preceded in death by her son, Jason Hendon.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Hendon of Paxton; children, Jerry (Megan) Hendon of Lincoln, Brooke (Ian) Blaha of Kearney, and Steven (April) Hendon of Paxton; grandchildren, Makenzie and Callie Hendon; Hayden & Tate Blaha; Chase, Kashtyn & Kolton Hendon; her parents, John (Patricia) Davis of Ogallala; brothers, Bob (Nancy) Davis of Blanco, TX, and Doug (Marie) Davis of Ogallala; mother-in-law, Norma Hendon of Brule; and many other relatives and friends.
