Todd Ruser

Todd Ruser, 61, of Kansas City, Missouri, previously of Ogallala, passed away on June 30, 2023, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Born to Kenneth and Shirley (Kramer) Ruser on August 3, 1961, Todd graduated from Ogallala High School before completing his undergraduate studies in Kansas City. However, a hand injury prevented him from becoming a court reporter.

Todd found his niche working as a wine consultant. His roles in private clubs and country clubs led him to Lukas Wine and Spirits, where he flourished, pulling from his breadth of knowledge and attentiveness to nuance.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Todd was recognized for his artistic talents. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice that he generously shared at weddings and during his younger years as a participant in the Front Street shows. He could also play the piano by ear.

Todd was fascinated by architecture and interior design, and he channeled his proficiency into assisting family and friends with their projects.

Todd was known for his deeply giving heart and his thoughtful, compassionate way. His generosity extended beyond his family, as he was always willing to lend an ear or a hand to those in need. Todd had recently been dividing time between Kansas City and Ogallala to be present with his mother, Shirley, in the wake of Ken's recent passing in March.

Todd was preceded in death by his father, Ken Ruser, and three infant brothers, Mark, James, and Steven. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Ruser; his sisters, Candi (Myron) Harms and Dawn (John) Lotshaw; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

A memorial has been established in Todd's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Ogallala Cemetery.
