Vickie L. Williams, 66, of Ogallala, passed away on June 13, 2023, at Kearney Regional Hospital.
Vickie was born on July 10, 1956, in Ogallala, NE, to Dale and Irene (Pierce) Wood. She graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1974 and subsequently attended Mid-Plains Community College.
On April 8, 1978, she married William "Bill" Williams at the Methodist Church in Ogallala. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Amy and Katie.
Vickie worked as a secretary for a cable TV office for a few years before working at TRW, which later became American Shizuki, for several years before her progressive kidney disease necessitated a change in her life. In 2010, Vickie received a kidney transplant from UCHealth in Aurora, CO.
Vickie cherished every moment with her grandchildren, thoroughly enjoying their company and engaging in various activities together. Among her favorite pastimes was playing games, with crossword puzzles holding a special place in her heart. Being a grandmother for 11 years, she embraced the role wholeheartedly and found immense joy in it. Vickie possessed a compassionate nature and demonstrated abundant love for those around her.
The past 11 years had been challenging due to her health, requiring her to rely on oxygen for extended periods. Finally, on Tuesday morning, her faith became sight. "It doesn't matter where you go in life, what you do, or what you have... it's who you have beside you."
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Cheryl.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Bill Williams of Ogallala; daughters Amy and Matt Hodgson of Kearney, and Katie and Albert Sanders of Waldorf, MD; three grandsons, William, Owen, and Henry Hodgson; brother Randy and Sally Wood of Littlestown, PA; sister Teresa and Jim Bame of Centennial, CO; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
